SEATTA Congress 2025: Strategic Roadmap Defined for the Future of Southeast Asian Table Tennis

BANGKOK, THAILAND – On December 15, 2025, the South East Asian Table Tennis Association (SEATTA) successfully convened its 2025 Congress at the Grand Richmond Stylish Convention Hotel. Held in conjunction with the 33rd SEA Games, the meeting brought together key delegates, regional sports leaders, and stakeholders to deliberate on the growth and professionalization of the sport across the region.

The 2025 Congress served as a pivotal milestone, marking the conclusion of the 2022–2025 term and setting a visionary agenda for the upcoming four-year cycle. Discussions centered on enhancing technical officiating standards, expanding youth development pipelines, and increasing the commercial viability of regional tournaments.

Key Outcomes & Highlights

  • Review of Achievements (2022–2025): Delegates reviewed the successful execution of regional championships and the significant rise in Southeast Asian representation in international ITTF events.

  • Adoption of the 2025 SEATTA Constitution: A centerpiece of the Congress was the unanimous approval of the newly drafted SEATTA Constitution 2025. This landmark document replaces legacy frameworks with a modern governance structure designed to meet international standards. By aligning with International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) best practices, the new constitution streamlines decision-making processes, ensures greater transparency, and provides a robust legal foundation to propel SEATTA into a new era of professional sports management.

  • Executive Nominations: A critical portion of the meeting was dedicated to the nomination and election of Office Bearers for the 2026–2029 term, ensuring a stable leadership transition to guide the association's next phase of growth.

  • Regional Participation: SEATTA reaffirmed its commitment to the "Green SEA Games" initiative, pledging to implement sustainable practices in future table tennis events.

“This Congress represents more than just a meeting; it is a collective commitment to excellence,” said a SEATTA spokesperson. “As we look toward the 2026 Asian Games and the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia, our focus remains on ensuring that Southeast Asian athletes are not just participants, but podium contenders on the world stage.”

The assembly concluded with a formal expression of gratitude to the Table Tennis Association of Thailand (TTAT) and the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee for their hospitality and for providing a world-class environment for both the competition and the administrative progress of the sport.
